wet or dry It's very good July 31, 2010 simtek I have 2 of these olympus cameras. I'm not a professional photographer or anything, I just need a bulletproof camera I can use on vacation and while snorkeling. These work great.
Great camera July 27, 2010 jojogirl777 (fresno, ca usa) Takes great photos. Took with me on a cruise. With the photo card installed i was able to take nearly 700 pictures. Everyone who viewed my pictures thought they were great. You need to make sure you have the back up battery if you are going to take any video. Because of its durability I have taken it everywhere - kayaking, ziplining, hiking in the rain which allows the ability to catch great memories.
Finally a camera that I don't have to be careful with! July 22, 2010 Ryan Weber (LINCOLN, NE, US) I have seen many negative reviews for this product and I couldn't disagree more. Sure it doesn't take the pictures a big bulky cannon takes, but thats exactly it, ITS NOT A BIG BULKY CAMERA. It's portability is awesome because you don't even need a case. And as for the reviews where "It's not waterproof!" was said, this is probably a rare occurance. People always review a product to "warn" people if they've had a negative experience. If everything is fine, most people don't. So don't let the negative reviews change your mind. Wouldn't you rather have a camera that you would ACTUALLY TAKE WITH YOU ALL THE TIME because you're not afraid of scratching it or breaking it. What good are cameras with amazing picture quality if you never have them around to use them? I know 3 other people with this camera and everyone thinks they're great!
The perfect camera for my lifestyle July 21, 2010 Lisa Savard (Pittsburg, NH) I am an Orvis Endorsed fly fishing guide. I also a bird hunting guide. I am a CEO, a mother, a grandmother, a wanna be book author, a real estate agent, web designer, I trade stocks. I live well and play hard and I try never to own anything that is fragile. It does not fit my lifestyle. When my husband (a photographer in the 70s to early 90s saw this camera in Best Buy, he proclaimed "You need this camera". So we bought it and I loved it!! Several of the images in our company's website were taken with this camera![...]
Then, I lost it. It was like losing my best friend. I have taken that camera everywhere! I carried when I guide, fall in rivers, sit on it, drop it, you name it. I went three weeks in mourning. I decided to buy a newer version but instead stayed with my tried and true favorite. I ordered my new one from Amazon; it was here lightning fast.
But late last week, I lost my new one. In a frantic search, I ripped apart my office and car. I find my old one. Whew, at least I have a camera. Yesterday while guiding fly fishermen on the Upper Connecticut River, I slide my foot into my waders and what is in the feet of my waders? My new camera. So now I have two!! So if you want a camera thats easy to use that you do not have to be gentle with and yet offers a good quality image, this is the one!
The camera is great but takes poor low-light photos July 8, 2010 Mark Long (Parker, CO United States) I've taken this camera snowboarding at over 12,000 feet in Breckenridge CO and snorkeling in Hawaii and I've never had an issue. The camera performs well outdoors and in places other cameras would never go. I've added a float strap and left it floating in a pool while it was passed around for great family photos. The panoramic feature works great and is easy to master. My only complaint about the camera is the indoor or low-light performance. Once it steps up the ISO the photos get very grainy very quickly. I would suggest forcing the flash on when you're indoors for better results but otherwise I've been very happy.
